Tyler Seguin – The Emerging Bruins Star Shines in Game Two

Written by: Larry “The Nucks IceMan” Johnson

I have to admit, I haven’t been this excited over a player since Sidney Crosby! After watching Boston Bruins centre Tyler Seguin enter into the history books, while performing magic on the ice with his two goals and two assists, I bet Toronto Maple Leafs Brian Burke and the Leafs Nation are crying in their beer.

Not since another young teenager named Trevor Linden, racked up four points on April 9, 1989, has this been accomplished.

This Seguin was dancing all over the ice all night long and his first goal of the night when he broke in alone on Tampa’s goaltender Dwayne Roloson, was just scintillating. The speed at which Seguin was moving and the fore-hand to back-hand move that he put on Roloson, left the Boston goalie grabbing for thin air, as the puck was flipped up into the net. But wait, there was more.

Seguin finished off a beautiful rush coming in off the right wing and shelved that one past Roloson also. Besides contributing on a couple of other Boston goals, he was the best player on the ice last night. How about 100% in the face-off circle to go along with the four points?

In two games Seguin has six points on three goals and three assists. If the Bruins’ management was not playing him because they didn’t want to rush his development, then maybe it’s time to let this young quarter horse loose.

The knock against him in the last 20 games of the regular season, was that he was soft on the puck and didn’t have a willingness to go the tough areas. I sure haven’t seen that in the last two games.

As happens with the great players, the puck just seems to follow them around the ice and Seguin seemed to have the puck attached to his stick like a magnet all night.

As I said in my opening line, this kid sure caught my eye and it will be interesting to see if he returns to the line-up when Patrice Bergeron returns. Talk is that Bergeron is expected back for the next game.

Just think about this Toronto, Tyler Seguin could have been in a Maple Leaf uniform, but now you’ll have to watch him become a great player dressed in the Bruins colours.

No matter how long Brian Burke is with the Maple Leafs, the Phil Kessel trade, in which Tyler Seguin (2nd draft choice) went to the Bruins, will go down as the worst ever. Hey that’s not the end of this nightmare, because the Bruins get the Leafs ninth pick in this year’s Entry Level Draft. Over to you Brian!

Talk to you after the Canucks game tonight.
